Redeye Gum, 2025
Charcoal on gum tree
Drawn in charcoal directly onto the bark of a living gum tree, this cicada reflects themes of impermanence, transformation, and the cyclical nature of life. The work unites insect, tree, and artist in a fleeting moment—charcoal returning to wood, image fading with time. Rather than preserving, Tosca invites us to witness and let go.
